oh boy.....

one of the honours students in our lab put a plastic tray and some plastic lids as well as glassware in the oven, heated it to 250oC to kill RNA for experiments......and yep....you guessed it....plastic melted and oven has to be repaired at my superisors expense.....d'oh.....

i was in the prep room at the time, cooking fly food (if i had not have stuffed it up the first time i would not have been in there. man, if i can't even cook fly food properly, how the hell am i gonna manage cooking human food that is edible...?lol! b is not domesticated AT ALL!) and near the end i could smell soemthing, i was getting a bit worried coz i thought i had done something wrong, and i couldn't work it out coz the gas was off.....then i call the tech and he saw smoke coming from the oven..there was much smokeness in the prep room and we couldn't open windows (i think they seal them so people don't jump fromthem)....but we didn't have to evacuate...that could have been exciting...but rather annoying....so as a result, b has a splitting headache and is contemplating going home for the alvo.....



oh, and yes, the honours student does belong to the 'male "i don't need your help or advice, nor do i need to attend the safety lectures or read method protocols coz i know it all" species subgroup.....
