Down for the Count
Have had a few weeks to get used to this band and they are rapidly becoming a favorite of mine. To put this into perspective some DK the Elder background! I am a swingdancer! I listen to, dance to and generally discuss with anyone that comes near me music from the 1920's, 30's 40's and some modern stuff too!
Down for the count are a Melbourne band that play muisc from the era predominantly by Count Basie (hence the name), and they are great to dance to (the true test of a swing band!) Not too fast not too slow. They are a "big band" with 5 sax, 2 trumpet, 2-3 trombone, bass, guitar, keys and drums. If you have any interest in the period or a feeling for the music they are really great. They play on Sundays from 6:30 to 9:00 for $5, which is such good value! At Mayfields in Smith Street, Brunswick.
