My holidays are almost up....

My holidays are almost up.... I had hoped to have plenty of time to do some music, but I've had none......

On the techy side, I've done the upgrades that I've been wanting to do for ages....

Rhiannon (my computer) has been downgraded to a normal sound card, a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SE from a Guillemot Maxi Studio ISIS. While the ISIS is a superior card for recording Guillemot have screwed us my discontinuing driver support, and living with Windows 98 SE was driving me nutty. So I bought a Tascam US-428, which is a lovely USB based recording device with a control surface to boot.... I'm also switching from Cakewalk Pro Audio to Cubase, becuase of the native support it has for the Tascam, so I have started to learn new software and also trying to rip aprt my Cakewalk files to be useful in the new system. So Rhiannon is now....

Athlon 1.2Ghz @ 133Mhz FSB

512Mb PC133 RAM

ATI Radeon All in Wonder

64Gb of HDD, two IBM 7200rpm drives (1x ata66 20Gb, 1x ata100 40Gb) and one 4Gb drive which I just use for storage of webpages [:

Sound Blaster Live 5.1 SE

Realtek network card (the Netgear nic died)

Aopen DVD/CD/CDR/CDRW combo drive

Hyundai 17" monitor @ 1280x1024 32bpp

Logitech keyboard and Mouse

Tascam US-428

Belringer Eurodeck MX802A

2x Shure sm58s

Sennheiser HD435 and HD200 headphones

Technics Stereo SA-120 (its old, but it works) with some pseudo-dodgy (for mixing purposes) speakers

There is also a fishtank, but I don't think it helps with the recording.... just calms the nerves of the user [: and of course adds some watery sounds in the background of the mixes (if you listen REALLY hard).

On the instrument front....

Peavey Bandit 112 amp

Boss pedals (digital delay RV-3,Flanger BF-2, Blues Driver BD-2, Overdrive OD-1)

Crybaby Wah

Fender/Squire Jagmaster

Samick es335 copy

Takemine Jasmine Acoustic (the pickup is dead at the moment)

Yamaha Bass

So there is the setup.... its all working and miked and everything.... now I just need some time to do my thing as such... I think I'm going to teach someone to run Rhiannon on Cubase so I can spend more time with fingers on strings than keys, buttons and dials [:
