A crash course in colouring: Part II

Sunday afternoon, out to find an open newsagent to find something other than newspapers to read... nothing to read, so what do we do? Um.. find some hairdye to dye his hair ...

This time we went for a permanent hair colour, Fudge Dark Copper Mahogany Blonde, which seems to make it sound like they couldn't figure out what colour this actually is ... So, is Decay's hair green?

We did actually go looking for the Indian Summer hair colour, but couldn't find the really permanent version ... so we traipsed around Priceline comparing hair colours on the boxes ...

This kit was pretty simple...

  1. Put contents of tube into supplied bottle, shake it up to mix with the stuff already in the bottle.

  2. Snip off the top of the bottle's lid, put on the gloves, and apply it onto dry unwashed hair ...

  3. Wait for half an hour, then rinse it out until no more colour rinses

  4. Wash and condition hair with supplied shampoo and conditioner...

That was the short version ...

When we mixed the tubey contents with the bottley contents, it changed colour from a milky white thin paste, to something that was quite bright purple and nothing at all like the colour on the box ... which was ok, because we were warned that the dye colour's not going to look like the box colour until it's actually working on the hair ... I managed to not dye too much of Decay's freckles on his forehead, ears, neck, sideburns, after some cleaning up with cotton balls ...

This mix actually looked like it was working pretty much as soon as I applied it ... you know how I said last time I could live with a red-head Decay? Well, I got me one of those now ! The resultant colour was a bit brighter than that pictured on the box, but that had to do with Decay starting off with darker blonde hair rather than brown hair ... actually, it was really funny how my mum didn't notice the colour until dinner last night ... it is a substantial change from his original hair colour, but it works ... (:

Verdict? Um... 9/10 for ease of use and the fact that it actually turned out a really kewl colour (: About the only way they could've improved this might be to include pre-lightener for those of us with really quite dark hair . They do sell the kits (they're mentioned on the back of the box) , but I don't remember seeing them anywhere... Oh yeah, and I got to dye Decay's hair with Fudge! Yay! Ok, it wasn't the orignal red I was threatening to do (he'd look a bit like Ronald McDonald at that point *giggle* ) but I'm happy (:
