My birthday Party (okay, Afternoon Tea)
This was a quiet event, which means no one got pissed or fell down in the gutter.  However, there was a fair amount of noise.  Dear One told me we were going to have the family over for a quite afternoon tea, and then invited lots of other people.  She then went off and set up the urn, the coffee percolator, cooked scones (with jam and cream, no less) and then organised for a lovely, sunny day.

So I ended up having a lovely day, speaking to friends, drinking tea and eating scones, while the multitudes of children ran and rode bikes around the back yard.  It may not sound like much, but I had a wonderful time and managed to regain a great deal of perspective, something that had been slipping recently.

In the end, there really isn't much better then a day spent with friends and family, is there?

hee hee (; Glad to hear that you had a good time for your birthday party afternoon tea (; The Scones were very yummy! Compliments to Mrs Sparker (;

I have to say, the multitudes of people shorter than me running around made me feel really quite old, and also quite young, all at the same time ... it's been a long time since I was running around like a headless chook or whatever, purely for the fun of running around playing ... but the whole concept of having kids, and then the kids being old enough to do the running around ... yes kids one day, but right now? It's the whole progression thing ... find someone, marry them, have some kids ... it's not like I feel we're behind, just that we're not up to the same point ... does that make sense?

Ok, more ATM theory tutorials, must figure out where I'm up to ... silly things...

This is the problem droidy....

Some of my friends already have kids, some don't. All of your friends don't and don't look like having any soon...

So when it comes time for us to do things the audience would rather not think about, the end results will be sort of alone amongst our friends.

As your side and part of my side, wouldn't have started yet and the other side of my friends... their kids will be 5->10 years old....

So the point is.... it was kewl to catch up for Sparker's anniversery of not dying. [:

i think the age difference here between droidy's friends and decyas friends have a major part as to why you are not up to the same stage....
plus, these days...well...depends on the person/couple...and i do speak for myself here to as well...there are so many things i want to do and so many places i want to see before i get maried...if i get married and before IF i have kids.....
but everyone is different....
i have heard that quite a few people from high school are having kids...even up to their second...already...at not even 23...who had their first at like 20...

I don't really mind that we're not up to the having kids stage yet or that we're closer to it to others might be at this point in time... it's just a way of making me feel simultaneously old and young ... good trick, isn't it?

It doesn't matter how old you feel really...just as long as you're still immature. I went to get my eyes checked the other day, and quite out of the blue, the optometrist goes 'Ahhh...never grow old Emilie' and I'm like 'I won't!! If you say so!!' Much to my Mother's dismay, that is. But having kids is a good way to keep you young, right?? Or does it make you grow old and crabby??

Children do seem to have the ability to make you feel both old and young at the same time. Some people feel they need to "grow-up" when they have children, this I have trouble with. People were often surprised that I wasn't getting rid of the motorbike when my first one arrived!

Children keep you honest and they make you work hard. And when they have the unequaled ability to bring joy.

One of my favorite life maxims: "Your goal should be to die young, and do it as late as possible".
