Em's Goodbye Bash :"(

but it is all good.....she is going to have a fantastic time as it is an opportunity of a lifetime!

Em's farewell sorta stuff started when em, jules, pris and dave and i had coffee/dessert/hot choc at moccha joes in glen waverley a couple of weeks ago - nice evening - even though em turned up an hour late due to silly kmart....there she received her graduation/finishing uni and going away presents...then friday night jules and i just hung out at her place and chatted.....then saturday was the party bash...

music was by yours truly, food provided by Mrs R and Mr R, along with jule's YUMMY homemade susage rolls and Mrs B's Choclate cake....let's not forget the YUMMY mars bar slice made by the chef herself, b...(the only thing i know how to make without wrecking it! lol!)...the alcohol provided by Mr R who was, quite alarming and out of character, telling us to drink...but Jules, Em and i opted to drink some Moet and Chardon Champagne we had stashed away in a bucket in Em's room (took me a while to actually find some floor space to put it on! hey, just becuase she is half way across the world it doesn't mean i cannot pick on her messiness!).....it was a good night, we headed to frostbites afterwards and danced and went home...a good night enjoyed by all!

On monday jules, robyn and i went the R's place to see Em off at the airport...
this is when it started to hit me that Em was leaving.....but i know she is going to have a fantastic time and if it was me, i wouldn't miss it for the world!

Em checked in, three pieces of luggage, that came to 33kg - this was a concern (i dunno what she brought, her hand luggage weighed 8kg alone!)for the qantas lady who gave Em a lecture about being overweight in her lugage and siad in a tone "did you not read your ticket? it says you are only allowed 20kgs" - and Em beign Em just said "yeah, i know, I'm sorry"....but after some hesitation the lady wavered Em through....

We had lunch (it took two guys to make a toasted sandwich for jules and i) then it was time to say "see you later" (rather than goodbye) - Mrs R was actually quite composed, i don't think she shed a tear, Jules was the first to cry, which made robyn adn I cry...only a little...(hey, em would be sadder if we didn't cry! lol!)... i told Em to hurry up and walk through and that we will see her over there p...she walked through and Em was gone...but she'll be back...unless she meets some handsome french guy......

have a great time Em!
don't leave any european beer undrunk!

ps: i got a phonecall from mrs r and Em is safe and made it to paris so it is all good!

Don't you just hate the farewell bit at airports. Everyone is trying not to cry. Mind you, it's worse the person leaving. They get to walk through the big doors....then wait....and wait...and wait. At least everyone else gets to go home!

Don't worry, b, she'll be back. My observations (and those of friends) are that France is full of attractive women and ugly men. So, while Em will fit in well, she isn't likely to find the man of her dreams there.

Having said that, how long is she planning to go for?

her job is until april 30 next year, but i'm guessing she will use the opportunity to do more travelling after her job contract ends...she would be silly not too! i think return flight tickets are valid for a year?? She has heaps of friends that will have the opportunity to go over to europe next year so it will be a great opportunity to travel....jules is thinking of going, i know i will definatley pack my bags and go for 6-7 months, my friend kate from uni is takign next year off too...so it is all good in the end!
