Disney's Vegetarian Conspiracy
Whenever Disney does an animated animal film, they throw in all the animals they can. It doesn't seem to matter that the idea of a lion talking to a warthog is similar to a person talking to a mouse (for that matter, two people talking seems to be quite rare), the animals all chat merrily to each other. So now we have a forest/desert/ant hill/ocean filled with various different beasties, all chatting to each other. And who are the good guys? The vegetarians. Who are the bad guys? The carnivores! Who made this rule? Is the Disney corporation filled with pale skinned, lettuce chewing, tree hugging greenies? Since when did "I eat meat" equate to "I am a a mindless psychopath who will kill your family and friends and make your life empty and hollow"? Okay, evidence time. Have a look at "Dinosaur". The happy little herbivores get attacked by the nasty T-Rex who rips through, kills mummy and stands on the rest of the eggs. Booo Hisss. Evil meat eater. Now, pan across to Lion King (how I hate this film). Stupid little lion runs away because he gets his dad killed and meets up with a bunch of bug eaters (oh, just a note here, bugs aren't animals at this point. I mean, they can't talk to the other animals, can they?). Instead of eating the fat little pig and his mate, he starts eating bugs. A LION WOULD DIE IF IT DID THIS!!!!! Now take a side shift to the latest in the series, "Finding Nemo". In this film the evil, evil sharks are the bad guys (well, once Bruce loses control and feels he needs to eat fish).

And we show these films to the children of today. Is the next generation all going to run around with T-shirts saying "Meat Is Murder" and boycotting McDonalds? Are we producing a race of nice people, devoid of the urge to hunt and kill? Will future generations not taste true joy of killing? And imagine what this will do to movies in general. Suddenly the whole idea of killing might become repugnant. And maybe this heresy will move across to not killing other people. Suddenly our cinemas would be devoid of films about heavily armed men shooting other heavily armed men because the second group killed the first groups brother! We'll have to go and watch films about relationships and being nice to each other. Damnit, this must be stopped!!!!! It could well spell the end of civilisation as we know it!

so speaketh the ex-vegetarian......

...and I always thought that ex-smokers were the worst! q:

...but I have seen it documented before about the Disney/vegie theory. But what can parents do?

They try to instill values in their child, one of them is don't kill things. Not out of some religous zeaL, although sometimes I suppose it is. Generally we say killing things is bad, people, dogs, cats and other assorted cute things.

What's that you say? Cows and sheep can be cute? Well yes.... but they are also tasty and full of essential nutrients.... like um.... meat.

So let us teach unto the children "It is not ok to kill things, except when it is ok.... like when you are killing to eat, but cannibalism is bad, except when you are trapped in a plane crash and the only food is the corpses of the dead, then it is ok"

Which leads to the inescapable conclusion: "It's okay to kill and eat things when they are dead".

...dead or may or may not have weapons of mass destruction"

... or vast supplies of oil ...

Oh, did I say that out loud? (:

One thing I forgot to mention in the Disney mythos is that it is okay (and pretty much mandetory) to kill "bad" things, e.g. almost every bad guy in a Disney film ends up dead. Which validates decays comment: obviously anyone with (or eithout) weapons of mass destruction can be killed, and so is a carnavour (with large quantities of oil). Simple, really.

and extending the Dinosaur mention .... Big carnivous Dinosaur, once killed for being evil and un-cute..... fossilized and then..... turned into oil!

KILL THEM AGAIN!

Sparker speaks of the "true joy of killing", and what a shame it would be if future generations lose this joy. I do not believe Disney is purposely forwarding a hidden agenda of vegetarianism, I think they have been created from the founder's love and respect of animals. It is nonsense to ponder on whether Disney kids films will lead to the end of killing in hollywood blockbuster movies. The two are completely unconnected. I prefer to think that Disney is trying to help young minds form a respect for animals currently lacking in so many people today. Sparker I am afraid you are taking the whole thing too seriously. Of course a lion would die if he ate only bugs. IT'S A KIDS FILM.

"Suddenly the whole idea of killing might become repugnant" he says. Good. Killing IS repugnant. It's time to grow up mate.

I Googled "disney vegetarian agenda" just to see if anyone else had noticed. Not enough, I see. I am a mom of a 1st grader, and I am convinced that there is a vegetarian agenda in Disney movies and Disney Channel shows. When my 6-year-old came to me last year and said "I'm a vegetarian," I asked her if she knew what it meant. "No." She then proceeds to ask for cheeseburgers and tuna sandwiches, so I start paying more attention to the subtle cues in the shows she watches. Other kids shows do it too, but Disney material almost always has some character stating "I don't eat meat," usually in the first 15 minutes, regardless of whether it has anything at all to do with the plot. Now I won't mind at all if my kids want to be vegans, but I want them to make that decision on their own, not because they've been brainwashed by TV and movies. At least on "That's So Raven" it's the ditsy sidekick who's the vegetarian, so the meat-eating lead character can still talk about how much she loves ribs. And "Twitches" had a witch-like person going on about how great the chicken wings in our dimension are. But still, what's with the Disney vegetarian agenda?
