In a recent survey of 1000 randomly selected people, 10 responded that
they felt apathy was on the rise. Another 90 responded that they
didn't know, but weren't fussed anyway, and the remainder didn't reply
at all. This result has sent shock waves through the polling
industry. If apathy is truly on the rise, as is believed, then it
is going to become harder and harder to find out what the general
opinion on anything is, and, just as importantly, no one will care when
they do get a result anyway.
A new advertising campaign is being planned to stop the growing threat
of just not caring. The campaign will consist of a fridge
magnet with the slogan "Yes, it does matter." followed by a
handout explaining what you should do when someone seems to be losing
interest. This will then be backed up by blanket television and
magazine advertising. (The controversial "Just don't say
no" campaign was pulled due to lack of support).
The Prime Minister declined to comment.
