Tuesday 8 February
Breakfast was opened at 8:20am, in the room of Droidy and Decay. This so happened, because this room was on the ground floor ... We eventually took off heading south some time before 10am, and our first stop was in the Salmon Capital of New Zealand... do you like how we stopped at a place that had a statue of a big fish? We had much fun gallivanting about on the kids playground at Rakaia, Lumpy tried to ride the bouncy Pelican Ride thingy, even Droidy-sized people weren't really made to fit in there...
Lunch was in a park between KFC and McDonalds, at Timaru, Ashbury Oval. Behold, the Chillie-Bin! Saladas with Promite, peanut butter, sandwiches with cheese and salami, and the taste testing of the Mighty Perky Nana! It tasted like ... a chewy caramel version of the banana lollies you get in the mixed lolly packs you get at the supermarket...
At some stage during this morning's check-out and chat with the dude at the hotel, we were told to look out for some Weird Boulders on a Beach. This prompted some flipping through a copy of the Lonely Planet to figure out what Boulders starting with M that were located after a town starting with O. Eventually after a stop at a tourist information board we worked out that the Moeraki Boulders were located after many many towns starting with O. There was some fairly windy stuff on the way here, which made playing Gameboy kind of hard cos it was making Droidy dizzy, and G a bit woofy. On the way there, we did pass a field, which was the very definition of ...

Fuckload
of sunflowers ... it's a relative thing, isn't it?
The Boulders were indeed weird, in that they were really quite spherical, and just sitting there like someone might've been playing a super large version of marbles or something.
The tide was getting up there on the rocks though, G was the only one able to do the barefoot walk, and we didn't go nuts in the tourist trap (: G's experience of the barefoot walk was that her legs were being sandblasted by the rolling wavelets carrying sand.
Eventually, we arrived at our Hotel in Dunedin, making a 3-4 hour trip turn into something that took 7 hours purely because we stopped when interesting stuff made us stop (: First trip was a walk to the Speight Brewery to see whether we could tour it up ... unfortunately the tours were all booked out ... so the next aim was to get us some dinnery food stuffs ... the pub thing associated with the brewery was booked out for dinner, so we went walking around the Octagon, and eventually decided upon a place called The Terrace, where much foodage happened.
Here's how our orders panned out:
- Grumbler: Stonegrilled Sirloin with Chips and Salad and Sundried Tomato sauce
- Guru G: Stonegrilled Lamb with Chips and Salad and Mushroom Pate Sauce
- M34tb4LL: Cod battered with Mac Gold beer batter
- Lumpy: Barbecue Ribs
- Droidy: Grilled Chicken sandwich on Rye with Chips
- Decay: Terrace Burger

Grumbler and Guru G's meals involved heated slabs of stone and raw pieces of meat, so it was very much a do it yourself cook-up ... we actually walked in here on the promise of some two for one deals going on, which worked out to be the meals of Grumbler and Guru G ...
Food? Yum!
Because tonight is the night before Chinese New Year, there was a Chinese New Year street festival thingy happening, so we walked around a bit, and somehow, Decay, Droidy, and Lumpy managed to find ourselves observing the telling off by some middle-aged women of a few girls who were apparently wearing skirts too short for public decency ... I'd have to say that although the skirts were short, they weren't actually that short. Maybe they were a little small, and not as appropriately tailored to the body types of the girls wearing said skirts, but as far as short skirts go, they weren't anything to write home about.
Wandering back, there was some poker action. Guru G and I made a late night trip to the servo, to get some bread, and some icecreams ... We decided that Lumpy needed a weird icecream, so he got the Jelly Tip, Decay got a Boysenberry Trumpet which I guess is some sort of equivalent to the cornetto or drumstick, Guru G and M34tb4LL got Magnum equivlents in Dulce De Leche and Gooey Caramel varieties.
Tomorrow? Possibly a Cadburys Tour, possibly a tour at the brewery, maybe both but not that likely. We'll see, but it's T-2 days to Bungee Jumping! Yay!
So, M34tb4LL won the poker last night, we found out later, while Droidy and Decay worked out that the TV reception was only awful in the other rooms and was quite OK in our room, but the quality of the content on the TV was kind of silly.
