RSO:T Day 11

Gah, it's the last day of our holiday, and there's so much left to do ... This morning was spent at Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World, where we saw much penguinage, and a bunch of fish.... the penguins were very kewl ... and kept quite cool too, with the temperature kept controlled at 0 degrees celcius ... As far as variety of fish though, the place isn't as big as either Melbourne, Sydney, or Vancouver Aquariums ... still, there are penguins, and they're cute (:

Anyways, after this last touristy thing, we had to head over to the airport, well, head over to drop off the Warthog Mk2, and then get driven to the airport, and wait around for a couple of hours before we were due to board our flight home ... this means much duty free shopping to be done ...

The drive towards the airport, or even to drop off the Warthog was ... trying. I'm not sure what the Rest of New Zealand is like in terms of labelling major things like airports, as road signs for clueless tourists to follow (especially when the airport is an hour out of the city), but in Auckland, the labelling started, and then it forgot to keep going when there was a fairly major intersection where we could turn left, or turn right ... we took a guess and guessed wrong, so we were then looking for a service station, or someone who looked vaguely non-touristy, to tell us how to get to the airport using only road signs, and the freebie maps we had getting around the country.

Nevermind, that got sorted, we worked out where the warthog needed to be dropped off, and then we were off to find a service station to fill the warthog up with fuel ... which is where the last part of our food challenge came though ... Snifters! These could be described as rounded football shaped things with chocolatey mint nougat, a shell of mintyness, a shell of chocolateyness, and then another shell of ... green. They were ... weird? They could also break peoples teeth, if they didn't warm them up first and make them chewable... but that's a standard thing for nougat-like lollies ... Other things that were purchased include those cheezels that Sambo was on about, and how they were fluffier... we needed them in order to compare properly with those bought in Australia ...

The airport was ... airporty. Bunches of shops, all selling much the same thing, at varying prices, just to trick you. We went through the x-ray machine once for Air New Zealand doing the checkin for Qantas, and once for Qantas to get into the waiting lounge ... they don't trust each other?

We boarded, we flew across the ocean, and eventually we landed. Most of us were in one piece, M34tb4ll and the whole act of moving were disagreeing with each other, so we waited about at Melbourne Airport until things had stopped looking so pear-shaped for M34tb4ll's insides ...

Yay! Home! To a place with flyscreens! And blinds covering the windows! And to a fridge with no Coke ... eeeep!

And this concludes the very first edition of RSO:T ... tune in next time for our next adventure ... or something.
